The In School Support Centre (ISSC)
The purpose of the In-School Support Centre is to provide a short-term, alternative working-environment for students who are experiencing emotional and/or behavioural difficulties.The Aims of the ISSC Provision are:
- to contain and support students who are experiencing severe emotional and/or behavioural difficulties and to reintegrate them into mainstream lessons;
- to provide opportunities for such students to establish relationships with adults who demonstrate understanding and respect for the student and clear expectations of behaviour;
- to provide appropriate support for managing and modifying student- behaviour;
- to assist students in developing social and inter-personal skills;
- to provide opportunities for students to experience academic achievement and celebration of their successes;
- to assist staff in developing techniques for supporting students with emotional and/or behavioural difficulties;
- to work in close liaison with parents, teaching staff and external agencies to support students who are showing EBD problems;
- to contribute to the ongoing school intention of a reduction in both fixed- term and permanent exclusions from the school.
