Kingsmead School Kingsmead School - specialist school for performing and visual arts

Attendance Line

It is the legal responsibility of parents to see that their child/children attend(s) school. If a student is absent from school a parent or carer MUST ring our attendance line for every day that the student is absent. The attendance line number is:

0208 372 2190

When your child returns to school they MUST bring a note from home explaining their absence.

Cases of persistent absence will see parents referred to the Educational Welfare Service, which discharges the Local Authority’s statutory responsibility in relation to school attendance (The Education Act 1996).

Unauthorised absences.

All unauthorised absences from school are followed up on a daily basis. This work is carried out on behalf of the school by Call Divert, a company that is registered under the Data Protection Act and whose staff are police checked. At 10.30am each day, a list of absent students is faxed to Call Divert who then begin the process of contacting parents or carers to ascertain the reasons for absence.
